In this article, we will discuss documents you need to prepare as a newly admitted student to use for registration when you get to your respective schools. These documents do vary according to school, but you need to take note of each of them and prepare for the one your school needs. They are needed to keep your files for reference at your school.

List of Documents You Need After Getting Admission

 

1. JAMB Admission Letter:- This is the document that shows that you have accepted admission on JAMB. You can get this after you accept the admission on your JAMB Portal and make the payment stipulated for it. It does contain the candidate’s name, passport photograph, the school you are given admission to and the course of study. Currently, it is usually two pages, one watermarked – For Institution and the other, For Candidate. It is required you print this JAMB Admission Letter in colored. 2. Original JAMB UTME Result Slip – The original JAMB Result Slip will show your name, passport photograph, and other details like date of birth, state of origin and local government. The major purpose of this is to show the list of subjects you did in JAMB UTME, their respective scores and the total score in the JAMB UTME exam. It also lists the four institutions you selected or the ones currently on your JAMB Profile and their respective courses. If you did change of institution or course, it is good to get another copy of the original JAMB Result slip to reflect the changes you made.

3. O’Level Result Slip Print Out / Certificate – This is referred to as the WAEC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB result printout that you submitted for admission. The normal printout is enough, just make it clear. Some schools do need a certificate instead of the normal printout. This depends on what your school want, so make findings regarding that.

4. O’level Exam Result Checker – This is the result checker pin, to validate the result that you submitted for the school. It is advisable you submit a new result checker if you are not sure of the number of times you have used the one currently with you. As for WAEC and NECO, it can be used 5 times. If exhausted or not sure, you can get a new one for WAEC, but as for NECO, it is no longer allowed for one candidate to use more than one result checker pin. If exhausted, you will be required to get the NECO E-verification token.

5. School Admission Letter:- This document is gotten directly from the school that gave you admission. This also spells out the course you were given. It serves as evidence that you have been admitted by the school.

6. Birth Certificate/Age Declaration:- This document is obtained from the hospital where you were given birth or from local government or other government agencies that certify the date you were given birth. An alternative option to this is to get a Sworn Affidavit of declaration of age from a court.

7. Certificate of Origin (of Local Government):- This is to confirm your Nationality, state and local government you belong to. It is obtainable from your local government of origin.

8. Passport Photographs:- Recent passport-size photographs will be needed for your files. Some schools do need up to 12 or more. Just make sure you have it ready.

9. Medical Reports:- The most common medical reports needed by some schools is to show your Blood group, genotype, and general health information. This will be used to know whether you are medically fit for academics. Some schools do carry out this test themselves by the school medical team at the school clinic.

10. Affidavit of Good Conduct: – An affidavit of good conduct is a legal document in which a student pledges to uphold lawful and respectful behaviour. Students are often required to sign an affidavit of good conduct upon school registration. This affidavit may include commitments to maintain good behaviour, avoid illegal activities, and refrain from any form of exam malpractice. Some schools do make provision for this, which you can get from the admission office or downloaded from the school portal.

11. Attestation / Reference Letter:-  This is to show that you are a responsible student and will not be of bad behaviour when you get to the school. It is often required to be prepared and signed by respectable individuals in the society such as the Mosque Imam, Pastor of your church, lawyer, judge, civil servant of a particular grade as required, or any other individuals the school need you to get it from.

12. Payments Receipts: This is to serve as evidence that you have paid all necessary dues required by the school such as the Post UTME registration fee, acceptance fee, admission letter fee etc.

13. Secondary School/Primary School Testimonial:- This is to confirm the secondary school and primary school which you graduated from. You can get any of these from the school you graduated from.
