JAMB to Penalise 180 Candidates For Exam Fraud, Deploys Decoy Website to Tackle Exam Malpractices.
The Reegistrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has said the body has deployed a decoy website to apprehend candidates seeking to cheat in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
He disclosed this to reporters on Thursday while monitoring the exercise at a CBT centre in Bwari, Abuja, the nationโs capital.
He expressed concerns that some candidates patronise rogue websites to cheat in the exam. JAMB, in a bold move to combat examination malpractice, revealed that it has launched a decoy website to bait candidates attempting to gain unfair advantage through rogue platforms.
JAMB Deploys Decoy Website to Tackle Exam Malpractices
Oloyede disclosed that approximately 180 candidates have already been identified after paying money to the fake site in hopes of receiving leaked questions.
โWeโve opened our own rogue website. As of this morning, about 180 students have paid into it. Attempting to cheat is already an offence, and we will deal firmly with them,โ the registrar warned.
We are going to cancel their results, both UTME and Direct Entry. We want to send a clear message that exam fraud will not be tolerated.
The JAMB registrar said, โWe need to let the students know that the best way to pass the examination, UTME in particular, is to study. We are aware of some rogue websites asking people to come and pay so that they can help. It cannot work. We have also opened our own rogue website. As of this morning, about 180 students have paid.
โSo those students, because to attempt to cheat is already an infraction. So those who paid into that account, looking for questions, we are going to deal firmly with them.
โSome of them are paying N30,000 for something that will never work. And to some, when I look at those who have paid us this money, I smile,โ he added.
Oloyede also advised candidates to steer clear of fraudulent websites and individuals claiming to offer assistance during the examination.
