Any candidates who want to participate in the upcoming 2024 JAMB UTME or DE (Direct Entry) need to get the JAMB Profile Code which is a requirement for the registration. In this article, I will explain what you need to know about the JAMB profile code and how to get yours for the 2024 JAMB UTME / DIRECT ENTRY registration.
What is JAMB Profile Code?
The JAMB Profile Code is a unique code that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) uses to identify each candidate who wants to register with the board either for the UTME exam or Direct Entry. It is just like a special code that is assigned to each individual that want to register for JAMB. It is used to link your personal information such as name, date of birth, gender, state of origin and local government on your NIN with the JAMB database.
What is The Usefulness of JAMB Profile Code?
The JAMB Profile Code is used for many things on JAMB. The profile code is used for the following:
Registration: The JAMB Profile Code is needed to register for any of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or Direct Entry (DE). It is used to link your personal information such as name, date of birth, gender, state of origin and local government on your NIN with the JAMB database.
Purchase JAMB e-PIN: Before you can register for JAMB UTME or DE, you need to generate e-PINs for registration. This epin is what is used to cover the registration fees and CBT center charges directly. So a major requirement to get this epin for JAMB registration is the JAMB profile code. Both the epin and profile code are needed at the point of registration.
Accessing E-facility: The JAMB Profile code is a compulsory requirement needed to access the JAMB E-facility. The e-facility is the JAMB portal that is used to carry out many JAMB activities such as checking of admission status, checking and printing of JAMB result, printing admission letter, changing of course/institution and others.

How To Get JAMB Profile Code / How To Generate JAMB Profile Code?
To generate this profile code, you need to have:
i. Your own unique NIN – National Identification Number (NIN) and this is also a compulsory requirement.
ii. Your personal phone number that is linked with your NIN. Do not use another person, friend, cafe man or anyone’s phone number.
You will have to use your NIN and phone number to generate the JAMB Profile Code.
If your phone number does not work, you can even register another SIM because of it, just to make sure you are in possession of that number.

Follow the steps below to generate your JAMB Profile Code
- Get your National Identification Number (NIN)
- Your Personal Phone Number
- Minimum of N50 naira airtime on your SIM (NO BORROWED OR BONUS AIRTIME, IT WILL NOT WORK)
- Send an SMS: Type NIN digit and send it to 55019 or 66019. It will deduct N50 naira.
- You may first receive a confirmation message, then within minutes, you’ll receive a 10-digit JAMB Profile Code via SMS.
Candidates are expected to send the word, NIN (leave one space) and then their NIN number by text (SMS) to either 55019 or 66019 from their personal GSM number.
E.g If your NIN is 1234567890. The message will be like;
NIN 1234567890 and you will send it to 55019.
Note:Â You must type the word NIN in capital letters all through.
This message will cost you N50 for the SMS fee (Do not use borrowed airtime or bonus to send this message as it will not be successful. You have to use the main airtime to send it.)

A profile code of ten characters will be received by the candidates on the same telephone number. If it fails, keep retrying, or use another phone number of yours. REMEMBER, DO NOT USE ANY OTHER PERSON’S PHONE NUMBER LIKE CAFE MAN, TEACHER NOT EVEN YOUR FRIEND.
Alternatively, you can use a close family member like your parents or siblings’ number who is the one that registered that sim, so that in case it is lost, the person can retrieve it.
This is because this number will be needed in future, even to check the JAMB UTME result.
Once you successfully get the profile code, keep it safe, it will be used to purchase your JAMB registration PIN by the time of registration.

How To Retrieve JAMB Profile Code If It Lost?
If you mistakenly delete the Profile code on your phone or anything happens that you are unable to see the profile code, simply text the word “RESEND” as typed in capital letters all through, without the inverted comma to the word 55019 using the same phone number you used to get the profile code. An airtime fee of N50 will also be deducted from the phone number.
I have done JAMB Before and I have The Profile Code, What Should I do?
If you have done JAMB before in the previous year, maybe in 2023, 2022 or anytime before and you made use of the profile code at the time of registration, you will have to use the same profile code and the Phone Number or SIM you used for registration then. Simply just text the word RESEND to 55019, it will also cost you N50 naira airtime, and the profile code will be resent to you, but you will have to get another epin for registration.
If you have lost the sim you used to get the profile code before, you need to retrieve it, it is very important. But if you are unable to retrieve it, you will need to login to your JAMB portal via https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/, once you log in, your profile code will be displayed on the first page at the top, it comes immediately after your name.
Also, if you are unable to login to the JAMB portal and can not retrieve the SIM, you will have to go to a CBT CENTRE and present the JAMB registration number you got the last time you registered for JAMB, it will be used to get the profile code for you.
If you do not have the registration number too, you will have to go to JAMB OFFICE to resolve the issue, they may likely help you change the phone number on your profile so that you can use another number.
What Next After Generating The JAMB Profile Code? –Â Get The Epin
Once you have successfully generated the profile code, the next step is to get the epin to use for the registration. As stated above, The epin is what you will pay for, it is used to cover the registration fees and CBT center charges directly. Both the epin and profile code are needed at the point of registration.
To get this epin, you may have to go to the bank, JAMB office, CBT Centre or Accredited Agents/platforms to get this epin. So, since this year 2024 JAMB UTME registration fee is N7,700 (WITH MOCK); and N6,200 (WITHOUT MOCK). Just have an additional amount of about N1,000 – N2,000 as a service fee if you will get it from agents, which may be faster than queuing at the bank or CBT centre.
